FRED GLESNES

“FRED GLESNES – PRESS RELEASE Fred Glesnes, hailing from Tromsø Norway, is a professional saxophone player, composer, arranger and bandleader. His education includes Master of Music, Jazz Performance from Western Michigan University, and Tromsø University College Faculty of Fine Art – Music Conservatory Norway. Glesnes has earned domestic and international recognition, and has toured extensively in Scandinavia, Europe and the US. In addition to composing, arranging and conducting for big bands and orchestras, he has worked with international greats such as Bob Mintzer, Randy Brecker, Lisa Simone, Larry Carlton, Michael Davis and Jon Faddis. Nationally he’s worked with acclaimed artists such as Frode Alnæs, Anne Grethe Preus, SIlje Nergaard, Sondre Lerche, Ralph Myerz and the Jack Herren Band to mention a few. He has also worked for The Norwegian Army Band both as a musician/soloist and as musical director. He also does performances for Norwegian national broadcast channels NRK and TV2.

Glesnes has several releases in his own name, both as a saxophone player, composer and as bandleader for smaller bands and the Tromsoe Big Band. He recently released the CD “Snow In June” with Glesnes/Medby Quintet and toured with fellow AMT endorser Mr. Randy Brecker. Brecker has collaborated with Glesnes on other projects as well. Other recent projects include the release of the CD “Lisa Simone, Live at The Edge”, with Tromsoe Big Band and Lisa Simone. Lisa sings her mums (Nina) most known songs with big band.

The microphones of choice are the WI5 for alt – and tenor saxes, the TA2 for the soprano sax, and Z1 for the flute. He also uses the WI5C to make the TA2 and Z1 wireless. For Glesnes AMT was an easy choice: ‘AMT completely blew me away from the first time I tried them. The WI5, the TA2 and Z1 all reproduce the sound perfectly from my horns, and I can drive them hard with no feedback problems. The TA2 is also the perfect solution for my soprano sax since the double microphones blend the sound from the whole instrument. We’ve had five WI5’s on stage at the same time with no antenna distributor system, and they all worked without any problems. AMT works really well live and in the studio.’ Check out Fred at www.fredglesnes.no  – FRED GLESNES
