Mr. Anderson discovered his love for music at the early age of 10. He started playing drums, until he found his true passion for the saxophone. He began studying with James Wilson, who would give him a pinch for each mistake, which he attributes, today, for his dedication and hard work. Keith went on to join the Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. High School Jazz Band under the direction of Dean Hill. Keith was then accepted to Booker T. Washington Arts Magnet High School later re-named Booker T. Washington School for Visual and Performing Arts, where Keith was under direct leadership of Bart Marantz.
Mr. Anderson’s talents and unique flair for playing the saxophone can be attributed to much and many. Keith started playing locally with a singer by the name of Pat Peterson, who was one of the original Ray Charles Raylettes. Later, Keith would be discovered by the legendary Les McCann. This was a man of major influence and of many commendations. Mr. Anderson traveled the world from 1992-2003 as McCann’s featured soloist. Other artists Keith has performed with include Roy Hargrove, Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller, , Erykah Badu, Bobby Lyle, ” Keb Mo” Kirk Franklin, and The Great Cab Calloway. Mr. Anderson’s most recent accomplisments include recording with Al Jereau on his Grammy nominated CD “Accentuate The Possitive” Roy Hargrove Grammy nominated CD’s “Hardgroove and Distractions” Kanye West Grammy award winning CD’s “College Dropout” and “Late Registration ”Fred Hammond’s Grammy winning CD “Free To Worship.” Other recordings include Marcus Miller “Marcus” Kenny Lattimore and Chante Moore “Uncovered/Covered” Poogie Bell Band “Get On The Kit” and Kirk Franklin’s “The Fight Of My Life”. Keith is currently touring with “Bass Man” Marcus Miller, and his band, “Full Of Soul”. Keith’s band consist of most the original band members from Roy Hargrove’s “RH Factor”. The band is Keith Anderson (sax) Jason Thomas (drums) Bobby Sparks (keyboards) and Todd Parsnow(guitar).
Mr. Anderson views his music as motivational and inspirational. “Diversity”, his debut CD, and “Let’s Roll” his newest release feature such artists as Marcus Miller, David Sanborn, Kirk Whalum, Roy Hargrove, Les McCann, Bernard Wright, Karl Denson, Dean Brown and many others. Anderson’s accomplishments include published songwriting for such artists as Roy Hargrove, Les McCann, and Paul Jackson Jr. Mr. Anderson’s future embraces his next CD “Live At Ovations” with his band Full Of Soul, to be released early 2009.
