Sean Holt is an American musician, producer, songwriter and artist. Originally from Shreveport, Louisiana, Holt’s early musical influences were a unique collection of Louisiana blues, gospel, soul and jazz from that region. He began his professional career in 1989 in Los Angeles, where he currently resides.
Shortly after locating in Los Angeles, Sean received his master’s degree in music from USC and began recording and performing with West Coast artists. He has worked with artists ranging from Carlos Santana, Flo Rida, Slash, John Legend, Big and Rich, Bette Midler, Bruno Mars, R. Kelly and Nelly, to Kenny Loggins, Mary J. Blige, Gloria Estefan, Arturo Sandoval, Michael Buble, John Rich, Sergio Mendes, Sheila E. and numerous others.
For the last 2 decades, Holt has enjoyed an extremely diverse and multi-faceted role in the international music scene. He is an accomplished, creative business owner with years of experience in music production and supervision. He has composed/produced Emmy, Clio, and Golden Pencil Award-winning music for hundreds of clients including Apple, Nike, Nissan, Oracle, HP, BMW, Porche, Mitsubishi, Expedia, McDonalds, Kodak, MasterCard, NBA, MTV, and Lexus. Holt co-produced the worldwide theme music for Al Gore’s “Live Earth – a Climate in Crisis, ” 24 hours of music from 9 concerts across 7 continents that reached an audience of 2 billion people. Sean consults with numerous successful companies in the Western United States, advising management about the ever-changing landscape of the music industry, helping to define their core strategies for increasing revenue, marketing, social media, and best practices. Clients include The Believe Foundation, LASAE, West Coast Music, MeMe2 Magazine, American Audio Visual, Inc. and Masher Media. Over the last few years, Holt has worked extensively in Live Television as Music Director on “The Next – Fame Is At Your Doorstep” on the CW Network, Associate Music Director on the “Lopez Tonight” show with George Lopez, and Associate Music Director on “Oh Sit” on the CW Network.
Holt is the co-founder of the Believe Foundation, a California 501c3, providing intensive educational programs that cultivate the discipline, dedication, and commitment necessary to achieve excellence in the arts. It’s flagship program, The Los Angeles School of Arts and Entertainment, scheduled to open Fall of 2014, will improve student achievement through high quality arts education and provide a bridge between South Los Angeles youth and employment opportunities in the entertainment industry.
Holt is on the faculty of the Popular Music Program at the USC Thornton School of Music. As an adjunct professor, he offers instruction in performance classes, songwriting classes, vocal performance classes, senior directed research projects, and private study.
Most recently, Sean joined the five-musician ensemble, Posse 2.0. He performs nightly as a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist on the highly acclaimed Arsenio Hall Show. The late-night talk show is produced by Eye Productions, Arsenio Hall Communications and Octagon Entertainment and is distributed by CBS Television.
