AMT AP40

The AMT AP40 is used in conjunction with various AMT models.   The models include the AMT M40, S25B, S18C, and soon to be release AMT Studio / Pro models of all the AMT systems.

The AP40 converts all of the microphones to low impedance, it regulates the voltage to each microphone, and with certain models creates a specific frequency curve.  The curve is necessary is on certain models or instruments in order to maintain the most natural reproduction of sound in conjunction with the achieving the most amount of gain before feedback in a live application.

There is a L / G switch on the preamp.  This is a Ground Lift switch.  If phantom power is not regulated for the correct voltage OR if phantom is reduced by the addition / amount of other condenser microphone connected, the switch disconnects the phantom power and allows it's own battery supply to power the preamp.   If the switch is moved to the L position, the preamp is powered by the battery.   If the switch is in the G position, phantom will power the preamp.

The output of the preamp is an XLR Low Impedance balanced output.   The output sends signal at Mic Level.
