Mitchell Paliga
MITCHELL L. PALIGA
Saxophonist Mitch Paliga is an active performer, educator and composer in the Chicago area. He currently tours with actor/musician Gary Sinise's Lt. Dan Band. As a member of the Lt. Dan Band he has performed in Afghanistan, South Korea, Japan, Europe and Canada as well as many U.S. states averaging 40 shows a year. In 2008 he also performed with the band Kimotion at the Ho Chi Minh Conservatory of Music and the Hue Festival in Vietnam.
Mitch has performed with Randy Brecker, Vinnie Colaiuta, Danny Gottlieb, Victor Kraus, the Temptations, Marie Osmond, the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, and Bob Newhart. Mitch is also a founding member of the Chicago Jazz Composers Collective.
Mitch has a master's degree in jazz pedagogy from Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree in music from Eastern New Mexico University. He currently teaches at Lake Forest College and North Central College and has taught at Illinois Benedictine University, Governors State University and Old Town School of Folk Music. In 1993, he received a National Endowment for the Arts grant for individual jazz study with master jazz musician David Liebman. In 2002 he received a City of Chicago Community Arts Assistance Program Grant.
Mitch has two recordings under his own name, Blithe Moments and his latest Fall Night which is on the Origin label. He also has recorded over 30 original compositions and arrangements with a variety of artists.
