Sarpay Ozcagatay was born in 1982 in Ankara ,Turkey. He began his education in 1993 in Hacettepe University State Conservatory flute department with Gülsen Şatana. Because of his success, he graduated from university one year early and finished in three years with a 94.70/100 graduation gpa. in 2002
In the time interval from 2002 to 2003 , he was tutored by Stiliana Stavreva Markova who is a flute instructor at Bilkent University.
In 2005, he took place in ‘’International Orchestra Institute Attergau Youth Music Festival’’ arranged in Austria , Salzburg as a principal flute player .
While he was studying in Hacettepe University State Conservatory, he interested in jazz music and jazz flute in high school(1996, at the conservatory), at the same time he studied with Turkish and American jazz musicians for a while, played in lots of jazz jam sessions. After his graduation, he focused on jazz music more and formed a jazz band called BE-TONE with Turkish friends of him
This group is a jazz funk fusion, latin and freestyle jazz quartet,
He also plays AKAI 4000s Electric Wind Instrument.
Between 2008 and 2009 , he played in some of famous jazz festivals and private concerts with BETONE.
For instance;
12th International Ankara Jazz Festival, 7th Eskisehir Amateur Jazz Musicians Festival , Hacettepe University State Conservatory Concert Hall, Middle East Technical University Kemal Kurdaş Concert Hall, Konya Selcuk University Süleyman Demirel Concert Hall and IF Performance Hall. In June, 2009, he collaborated in jazz workshops with
Jon Metzger.
He also played with famous Jazz Legends and Musicians below.

He is also the winner of the most prestigious award of Berklee College of Music “Billboard Magazine Award 2011”
