The AMT S25I & S25I-TP (Tail Piece) is an electret-condenser microphone system that has been specifically designed for acoustic bass. Unlike all other microphone companies in the world today, AMT, designs and manufactures by hand, microphones built specifically for each instrument. The S25I has exactly the same sound characteristic’s, clamping, position abilities, and functions as the original S25B system. The S25I-TP system includes the ability to mount to the tail piece of an acoustic bass just like the S25B-TP and SP25B-TP.
The preamp included with the S25I is AMT’s Inline Preamp. The “Inline Preamp” is smaller in size than the “Studio” preamp included with the S25B and the “Super Preamp” which is packaged with the SP System.
The Inline preamp can be placed on the floor, a music stand, or in your pocket which allows it to easily be kept out of the way. The pre-amp utilizes a complex circuit that is tailored for the needs of an acoustic bass player. The pre-amp requires phantom power and includes a dB cut and low roll off filter with an XLR output.
All of the parameters that are problematic for the double bass have been addressed. The S25I will acquire the most gain before feedback by using a very tight pattern to give a high rejection to surrounding noise. At the same time, the system reproduces with great definition capturing all of the subtleties of the acoustic bass.
As placement is especially important with an instrument that has a fine finish and varying dimensions, this microphone's attachment mechanism is designed to attach to either the side or the tail piece of the instrument. By allowing the microphone to be positioned in various spots on the bass, the player can choose the ‘sweet’ spot. The TP system allows the instrument and the microphone to be placed back into a carrying case without having to remove the microphone from the body of the instrument, while the standard side mounting setup is ideal for the player touring that would like to carry the microphone with them.
All of the acoustic bass models now also include D.C.T. (Disconnect cable technology). D.C.T. allows removal and replacement of the cable from the microphone. DCT allows for the player to use all acoustic bass models with any of the available preamps. (AP40/studio preamp, Super Preamp, or Inline preamp)
Made from aluminum to keep the mass low yet extremely strong, this microphone will remain durable through many years of use. The flex arm is easy to position yet retains it's placement throughout the most active of performances.
The mic is connected to the pre-amp by a mini XLR. The S25I comes complete with the side mounted microphone, inline preamp, cable and case. The S25I-TP comes complete with the tail piece mounting system, inline preamp, cable and case.
